In this third cookbook from the ladies at The Junior League of Witchita Falls, Texas, the authors acknowledge that modern Junior Leaguers are far, far more likely to also have jobs outside of the home than in previous years and cookbooks.  This in itself is refreshing, that the "second shift" work of women in cooking, volunteering, and simply enjoying time with friends and family has to fit within the larger demands of day-to-day life.  And the recipes in this lovely cookbook speak to that conundrum - simple, fresh, and quick to prepare. 

The recipes themselves run the gamut from classic Texas BBQ to more fancy Pancetta Carbonara.  The "Soups ; Salads" chapter is fantastic and, for those who are always looking for special weekend or brunch recipes (or holiday breakfasts),  the "Breads ; Breakfast" chapter alone is worth making space for this book on your cookbook shelf.
