Shop Notes:

This is a great little community cookbook developed by a wide variety of "commodity organizations" (such as NC Apple Growers Association and the NC Peanut Growers Association).  The recipes were collected from the wide variety of promotional recipes shared with the public to encourage consumers to purchase North Carolina-grown crops both old and "new."  Some recipes included are old favorites like Catfish Diane, Chicken Pie, Terry Sanford's Cheese Grits, and Russian Tea.  Others are new variations on classic NC dishes like Wilted Salad with Hydroponic Lettuce.  Overall, it's just a fun and useful cookbook that gives the reader an idea as to how many popular Southern products were used back in 1989.
