Shop Notes:

What impresses me most about Are You Hungry Tonight is that each recipe is placed in the canon of Elvis' dining habits as a child, a soldier, a rock star, and a Southerner.  While the recipes tend towards the daily comfort foods of the South, the author offers numerous flavors in the past, both in recipes and dining music (Elvis' of course).

From the Publisher:

More than 50 of Elvis' favorite recipes. Includes his mama's recipes for mashed potatoes and lemon meringue pie, peanut butter and 'nana sandwiches' and Priscilla's magnificent wedding cake (make the whole thing or only a tier). With great pictures of Elvis at work and play as well as full-color food photography.

About the Author:

Brenda Arlene Butler was born and raised in Jackson, Tennessee and has been an Elvis fan for as long as she can remember.  In the 1970s, she saw him more than thirty times during his Las Vegas residency and still cherishes his memory.  A professional editor, she worked on the book I Am Elvis: A Directory of Elvis Impersonators, which the New York Times described as "the next best thing [to Elvis still being alive]," and the Baltimore Sun called "perhaps the most important Elvis Presley book of the hundreds already published."
